Frequently Asked Questions - NYC
Have questions about acquiring your marriage license? Click here!
Q: What about paperwork? Can I get that at Sure Thing Chapel NYC?
A: No, you must obtain a marriage license from The Office of the City Clerk. Our role is to sign your paperwork after your ceremony is complete & turn it in. For more information on obtaining a marriage license CLICK HERE.
Q: What if I am already married & looking for a vow renewal?
A: You can disregard all of the paperwork verbiage! We do not need proof of marriage but the price is still the same.
Q: Is Sure Thing Chapel NYC right for me?
A: We have fine tuned the perfect “Vegas” wedding right here in the Big Apple! We aim to make every wedding feel meaningful, fun & stress free! If you are looking for a wedding “venue” or require a wedding planner, we are probably not the right chapel for you! We are a wedding chapel that deals with a high volume of weddings. Because of that, we do not offer personalization outside of the services included in each of our packages.
Q: Are your ceremonies religious?
A: Nope! We only do non-religious ceremonies.
Q: Can I bring my own officiant?
A: Nope! We promise it’s a much better experience! You might think you want your own officiant, but you really don’t. We’ve done thousands of weddings to make sure your ceremony is about YOU! While a friend or family member might be a nice thought, they don’t know what they’re doing! :)
Q: Can we drink alcohol at the chapel?
A: NO! Please DO NOT show up to your wedding intoxicated & do not bring intoxicated guests to your ceremony. If anyone in your party is visibly intoxicated, they will be asked to leave. We cannot legally marry a couple that appears to be intoxicated. Save your celebratory drinks for after!
Q: Can I have food or drink in the chapel?
A: No! Absolutely no food or drink must be consumed in the chapel. This includes champagne! Only bottled water is allowed.
Q: Can I bring a cake?
A: You can bring a cake for photos only! It must not be eaten inside.
Q: Can I bring my own photographer?
A: Absolutely! We allow you to bring your own photographers at no extra cost.
Q: Can I have a “first look” down the aisle?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate first looks for down the aisle. We suggest coordinating with your photographer to have a first look either at your hotel or out front before your time inside begins.
Q: What can I expect on my wedding day?
A: The doors will open at your scheduled time. You will be greeted by your officiant & can discuss whether you are exchanging personal vows/rings or if you’d like to walk down the aisle. We take a very laid back approach to your wedding day, but you can expect a short & sweet ceremony, time for a first dance (if you want it & time permits!), photos at Autophoto & photos with your photographer if you have one!
Q: How do I get access to Autophoto?
A: Access after your wedding will be granted for the couple (& photographer) directly after your ceremony through our shared hallway. All guests that would like to enter must walk around & wait in line. Please note, as long as you’re paying for photo strips, you’re welcome to stay! This goes for guests wishing to visit as well. Auto Photo is our neighbor & we want everyone to support them in their mission to keep analog photobooths alive! *photo strips are not included with your wedding package.
Q: What about a bouquet?
A: We don’t provide florals at Sure Thing NYC, but you’re welcome to bring your own! We suggest Fleur Fatale.
Q: Where are you located?
A: We are located at 122 Allen St! We are neighbors with Autophoto Photobooth Museum located on Orchard St.
Q: Can I have a tour?
A: You can see the entire space through our windows, any time! If you have additional questions, feel free to contact us.
Q: How many guests fit at Sure Thing Chapel NYC?
A: Our base packages allow up to 20 guests for a 30 minute ceremony & up to 25 for an hour ceremony.
Q: What about music?
A: Book our professional pianist for your ceremony! Sure Thing Chapel NYC has a shiny custom vintage Wurlitzer from Chicago Electric Pianos!
We also have a sound system that utilizes Spotify if you’d like to play music from our system. We CANNOT play any music that cannot be found on Spotify (no sound files, Youtube, etc)
Q: Can we live stream our wedding?
A: We do not have live streaming capabilities but you’re more than welcome to bring your own & set it up!
